Our 5 Monkey Chandelier was featured in an article in The Wall Street Journal on December 19, 2003 in their Home Front section. Below are excerpts from the article:

Chandeliers Get Enlightened. Now Big Fixtures Light Up Baths and Walk-In Closets. The chandelier, that dusty relic from Grandma's dining room, is getting a makeover. With homeowners looking to fill space in high-ceiling McMansions, makers are coming out with all kinds of twists for different rooms, from $1,200 leather chandeliers for a modern look to hanging baby-room fixtures decorated with pastel frogs. One outfit, Sisal Lighting, in Garrison N.Y. has an entire line of monkey chandeliers (including Gothic and Moroccan versions) and says sales are up 20% in the past year, while others are offering mini models meant for closets, Swarovski, the big European crystal maker, is getting into this, too, with its first-ever line now on display at Bergdorf Goodman in New York and some models costing $450,000.

To some degree, makers and decorators say chandeliers are catching up to the changes in the rest of the lighting world. designers are also loosing up with more playful models, "people don't want anything run-of-the-mill".

Switch Studio

High Tech Venice Style
A new Southern California film studio blends cutting-edge technology with a relaxed flare.

Tucked quietly inside the historic Venice Canals neighborhood in Southern California, the recently launched Switch Studios is far from your ordinary film studio. Created to provide a unique and unprecedented experience for the filmmaker, Switch offers an array of post-production services in a chic and eclectic boutique environment, including swank video edit suites, a plush High Definition digital video screening room and a world-class professional kitchen.

Selected for the Venice Architecture Tour and the Venice Garden Tour, contemporary
artwork and design accents adorn the space, including a large red monkey chandelier, ever beckoning all to keep a sense of humor. Also designed for peaceful breaks and privacy is a spacious outdoor terrace overlooking the Venice Beach Canals and a downstairs Zen Garden.

The interior architecture has become the new cityscape for the owners, and, like a good film, transports users into the fantasy, says Masket. Hopefully, this new built environment will inspire the filmmakers, as well as their clients, to become a metaphor
for future relevant and aesthetic projects of their choice.
